Water they worth? (2 fold question)

There is a partly junky 71 for sale in my area. It has a motor, tranny, junk '70 grill, junk interior installed, but comes with everything to get the interior finished, has carpet, sound/heat dampening, 71 grill, good tailgate (extra $100), 2 sets of tires (8). Non air cab, lift kit (used to be a Mud Drag truck) but still a 2WD. The BIGGEST questions I have are...Motor is '78 Caddy 425 in front of TH400 (rebuilt). I've wanted a Big Block truck, but I'm wondering if an old Caddy motor will not be as good as I would hope. The only way I can buy the truck is to sell some parts that are already on my truck, so I can get the stuff I want to FINISH my truck. Dude wants $1000 for the whole truck with all the parts that go along with it. Am I crazy to try to get it? I don't think the body on the prospective truck is worth much, but all the unwanted parts may end up profitable, uh, ish for me. Whaddaya think?

Also, how much would my good-running, semi high performance motor, Turbo 350, and possibly a spare 200-4R w/ torque converter be worth? Would they cover the cost?
