gearvendors overdrive question

I'm considering replacing my 700R4 with a gearvendors and either a th350 or th400, mainly because I'm building a stout smallblock 400, probably around 450hp/450tq... the current 700 needs a rebuild anyway, so I'm looking at my options.

I have an opportunity to pick up an old style gearvendors unit, complete with th400 tailshaft for $800... wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the old and new style units... I would guess there is some computer control on the newer one, but I have no clue...

Also, aren't the tailshafts the same on th350/400..???

thanks for any input...
