Single stage black sucks to clean!

I just now got around to washing my 68. The PO painted it SS black. It looks good from 5 feet on a good day but it has it's flaws. It has rained here off and on the past month and I made the time today to take care of it. I don't have pics as of yet but I've already spent 4 hours buffing it with a power buffer and fine buffing compound by 3M. I love black but when I go to repaint I'll go BC/CC. Does anyone have any tips besides constantly washing the truck after I get it clean to keep it looking good? Thanks.....Mikey
