The Longhorn that got away...
About a week ago, when a buddy of mine were working out at the local high school, I noticed parked outside of the auto mechanics building was a '72 Longhorn...I of course had to check it out, as it's a local truck that's been around here *forever*...blue/white, original owner, original tilt & am/fm truck, 350/350, cruise, factory auxilary tanks...the works. All still there and working, and was an old man's daily driver.
This morning, I had to run my youngest son's lunch box down to him, and I decided to swing by the auto mechanics building and BS with the teacher whom I've known for years...as I walk in, low and behold, the Longhorn is inside. So, I ask him, "what's wrong with Roy's truck", and he starts telling me head gasket, blah, blah, blah...well, in the middle he stops and says, "but it's not Roy's any more, he sold it", and points to a boy in the class! Sure enough, this kid picked it up for a song and a dance! My buddy and I have been bird dogging this truck for years, and it slipped through our fingers! Fortunately, the kid that now owns it is a good kid, and he and his family have a bunch of 67-72s. So, kind of a sweet 'n' sour story, but it's a cool truck nonetheless...
