Wiring harness
The other day my alternator went out on me. I went to the auto parts store and got another and a new battery as well. The way things have been going out on me I figured I'd replace it before it screwed up as well. I got it all on there and went and started it up and to test it out. Well, the alternator is still not working. I was sitting there scratching my head for a minute or two. I decided to tear into my harnesses and check them out. My keyed ignition wire to the alternator is non existent except for a portion of the jacket, all the way up to the firewall. I wasn't able to find the cause but with the new parts I shouldn't have to worry about it. I noticed where sometime in the past the positive to the alternator had tangled with the fan blade and several splices, basically nearly 40 years of PO fixes. I decided to order a new underdash harness, front light harness and the engine harness for my 68. I'm going to wait for the rear light harness, instrument panel harness, ac harness and all, just until the sting of the ones I ordered goes away. It sucks to shell out that kinda cash to get it going, but it's gonna clean things up real nice. I know LMC says 4-6 weeks after ordering harnesses but Brother didn't. So hopefully in a week or so I'll be tearing into the truck to put in all new main harnesses.....Mikey
