newbie to the 47+ truck club

Hey guys. I will now be watching your threads to learn about my new truck. (new to me anyways). Last night I picked up a 1949 gmc 5 window 3/4 ton. I was going to take pic`s to post but after 3 hours of trying to get this beast out of a yard that it was sitting in for 18 years on four flats, I was in no mood to take em. I`ll do that tonight. After I unburied the wheels I noticed it was a 3/4 on split ring wheels and a floating rear end. Is this a good find or should I convert to a half ton for a daily driver? Also, did these truck come with a floor shift stock? I figured that they were all coluum shift but I`m probably wrong. well thanks for the info. I`m sure I`ll learn alot about these trucks thru you.
Mike
PS: this truck is a true AZ and NM truck. the only rust is the cab corners and a spot on the drivers floor and it looks like someone lit a fire on the hood but not bad. no bondo that i can see so far and the 3 back windows are in good shape. I`ll post pic`s soon. was this a good buy for $400.00? I know but thanks again
