Powder Coat vs. Paint
A week ago or so, I replied to a thread and a board member was asking whether or not he should powder coat or paint the hood hinges and lock assembly in his truck. I believe someone said yes and another did not suggest it due to the moving parts. I mentioned a spray can product that I picked up at a swap meet in Englishtown, New Jersey. There were a few different finishes but 2 in particular.
The 1st was called Cast Blast, giving the fresh look of cast iron. It's used for master cylinder, power steering pump, sway bars and other front end parts. The other product gives the mild unfinished look. It's called Stainless Steel. It's recommended for the hinges and hood lock assemblies. It's pricey (1-6 cans, $12.95 Shipping at $9.00 per can) Unless you buy it at a swap meet then it's $7.00 cash/carry. Unfortunatly, I could not bring my cans on the plane, but left them with my Uncle in Jersey and he says it works great. They don't have a website but here is the company info: Ray Brandon will answer. Ask him what swap meets he will be at. He said Z-Hills, FL next week, Georgia and Ohio are coming up. branden enterprises po box 511 trevose pa 19053-0511 (215)327-4926 Harry
