3/4 ton to short stepside conversion

Looking at converting the truck over to short stepside here this summer. Iv'e got a bed lined up and should be picking it up saturday. From then on its just a question of getting it all ready and painted and then taking a couple of days off in the summer to do the frame cutting and welding. and splicing the exhaust.

So...

If you guys were to do it what would you do about the driveshaft? Two piece with a shortened second shaft ? Or one piece coming straight out of the 4speed? I'm assuming that is possible.

I want to get all the contingencies accounted for before I get started so theres no running all over town . I'd like to get it all done in a day if possible.
