Big Wheels, what does it do to suspension?

What does 20" & 22" wheels do the the vechicle? I mean as far as braking. Does larger wheels mean larger brakes? I think it puts more weight further out from the spindle which would create more stress on brakes. I don't understand all I know about the physics of what goes on. Can someone braeak it down to simple terms?
