busy busy turkey day......
so as i had planned today, i went to my buddy's place to install/rebuild(like the afb and hei) the edelbrock intake, carter afb carb, and hei dizzy and just generally hang out with him since his wife lives in cali. so after ripping the old points and coil, 2bbl r-chester and cast iron intake(boat anchor) and installing all of the "new", just recently acquired but new to me, parts and doughnut seal on the passenger side ram horn, it came time to fire little bird up. well at first we had it 180 out. so we had gotten it set correctly and now she won't run with out some one either holding the pedal or throttle on the carb and shoots flames out of the passenger side exhaust manifold(obviously i didn't tighten the flange on it evenly). we tried richening it, leaning it, advancing and retarding the dizzy and still will not run. one thing that i did not put on there was the fuel filter because i had left it in my room and was going to run it temporarily like that until tomarrow when i could throw it on. so what could we have done wrong?? can it be that its getting too much fuel because i forgot my filter?? or can it be that the carb is too large or i didn't rebuild it right?? i think that it is a carter afb 9635?
