aftermarket gauges install ????'s

well guys i am ready to start working on my gauge cluster & i have a few questions. i am going to run A.M. gauges with a alum. bezel (you know the typical setup) & i have a new dash harness installed. i want to know how you guys have hooked up your gauges? i have heard that there are pin connectors that can be used to connect the wires from the gauges to the harness, is that what most people do?? i really do not want to "ruin" my new $285 harness. i am not sure how all the gauges are connected???...

any help & explainations, as well as pics, would be very much appreciated!!
