Which cam for the rebuild?
I have a 1970 LWB with a tired 350 that needs a rebuild. It is a daily driver and I haul lumber and tools everyday [I am a deckbuilder]. Average load in the truck is around 950 lbs [I have 3/4 ton springs on the back and helpers].
The motor [350 4 bolt numbers correct block]currently has headers [soon to be Hedman Shortys], an Edelbrock Performer EPS intake, Edelbrock 1405 carb, and an HEI dizzy [new Accel billet]. It sits in front of a TH350 and a 3.07 rear axle. From time to time I will be pulling a 16' car hauler either loaded with wood or a parts truck. I've been told that an RV cam might not be the best choice. A slightly lopy idle wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit. So what's the general concensus on which cam kit to insist on for the rebuild? I drive probably 65% highway and 35% in town.
