Dumb chassis question from a noob
Hey all.
I hang mostly in the 60-66 group, but also in the 47-59 too. My bare steel suburban that lays on the running boards is nominated in dec's TOTM. Well, it was mine, I built it. But have since sold it to a guy in AR. Anyway. I have, what is most likely, a dumb question. I went to look at a real clean 72 GMC lwb truck, minus it's bed. It's a leaf-spring rear as most know. If I buy it, I want it slammed. I mean, laying out. So...Is it feasible to just remove the leafs and r.e. and move the r.e forward, and add a big notch, and relocate with a tri-angulated 4-link? What I'm asking is...Is there any reason I can't just shorten my wheelbase to swb length using the lwb frame? It would need a decent sized notch, and I can make my own crossmembers to locate the tri-4 Then I can find a shortbed or shorten a longbed for it. I'm sory if this has been covered before. Honestly, I didn't search it out. I'm at work on my bosses computer, so it's SLOOOWWWWWWW. Thanks, and I appreciate it Tim |
