window cranks

I've found that chevy's I've owned always break the window cranks really easy. Anyone else have this problem if so I know how to help fix the problem. My current pickup a 76 bonanza has cranks that came off as far as I can tell a 65 chevy car they have a smaller handle at the end but seem to be made of better metal. They haven't broken yet and have been on the pickup for at least 20 years. The 73 I use to drive they broke all the time and the windows didn't crank any harder then the 76 does.
