Front frame cutting

I have a short 4x4 frame that I noticed has been worked on. Has weld spots and original rivets have been replaced at front crossmember with bolts. Also horns in front are bad. I have another longbed frame (straight) and want to cut just beyond crossmember on both frames and replace. Has anyone replaced sections off frame. How will it affect the 4x4 leaf springs. Also is a 45 cut reccommended? Thanks in advance
