Hood sits too high at the rear?

I know this is a common problem on these trucks, but with new hood hinges it should suck right down into where it's supposed to be I would think. I have the hinge mounted as low as adjustably possible, but it's still up 1/4 of an inch. Is there any way around this aside from slotting the hinge holes further (which I'm willing to do)? It's on the drivers side. The passenger side is good. The truck is a 72. Thanks!
