Can't decide, but guess I just did
Well for a few months now I have been working on my 67. The intention was to swap out the 327 which didn't really have anything wrong with it for a 396. My dad has a built up 396 in his 82 that is too much power for him. Said I could swap engines and he would be happy. Finally got the 82 in the shop Wednsday. The 67 is stripped to the frame. Started pulling the motor last night, intended to finish after work tonight. My boss was helping and asked me why i wanted this motor. Only thing I could think of was because its a big block and I want power. My 67 has 4.56 gearing, its 4x4, so i can't go 120 down the road, which I don't need to anyway. i am making it look nice, but not showy. Daily driver, wood and kid hauler and hunting truck. So I sat and had a couple of beers thinking, I decided to keep the 327 for now. If I do decide i need the 396 it will always be there, dad drives it maybe 200 miles a year. I don't know, the 327 served me well before I decided to frame off the truck, and i can't think of any reason other than its a big block to take the 396. AM I NUTS OR WHAT????
