Pic of my '72 GMC Sprint 454 SP...for those who were interested
For you guys that were asking for a pic of my 72 Sprint 454 SP, here she is. All banged up, but all there;
454, T400, 12 bolt 3.31 posi, A/C, PS, PB, buckets, console, tach/gauges, cowl induction hood, factory rally sport wheels, F41 suspension and lots of rust. Needs a full restoration. For those who aren't familiar with the Sprint, they are GMC's version of the El Camino. In 1970, GMC Division asked the General for their own version of Chevy's successful El Camino line, and thus the first Sprints were introduced in 1971. Just like the El Camino, the Sprint was available in several trim levels. Instead of the "454 SS" for the top of the heap performance versions, the Sprints were "454 SP" with the SP standing for Special Performance. They are basically identical to an El Camino except for some GMC badging. However, they are much rarer than the El Camino, especially the 454 SP versions, of which only 114 were built in '72 and only 30 of which are optioned as the one I have. Only 34 454 SP's were built in '75, truly the last of the big blocks as no 454 '75 El Caminos were built ; the 454 option having ended their run of big block Elkys in 1974. I'm on the lookout for a '71, '73 and '74 now. If you know where one is, let me know. SC
