Electric Fan Question

Read tons of info on the fan conversions and have one of the cherokee fans ready to go. I was wondering if anyone was using the same sending unit for both a fan switch and an electric temp gauge? Seems like it should work, but I haven't heard about anyone who's actually done it. I was thinking about an autometer phantom electric temp gauge and sender. Could I just splice in one of these? http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=252640

Thanks,
Tony
