Lightbulb mid engine 68

Has anyone had any experience in seeing or wrenching a mid engine in a 67 - 72 long bed? I was thinking, I have a 68 that has been sitting for a while and was thinking about how far out there i could get with it. I was tinkering with 500 ci caddy backed by powerglide sitting behind cab inside the bed, wheelstander syle (old style dragging). 4-pack exhaust pipes exiting thru lower portion of bed in front of wheels. Bagged w/ independent front suspension and R & P steering. Lots of other wild ideas also but this would be the most elaborate.
