1970 C-20 options list and general questions
Hello,
I own a 1970 C-20 with a 350/350, 8 lug wheels and leaf springs. I searched the site but was unable to find an options list for the 1970 model year. If anyone has an options list that they can post I would appreciate it. I am somewhat confused about suspension and drivetrain options for the C-20. As I understand, coil springs rears were standard and leaf springs were an option. But from different posts, I've found that there are many people are interested in changing from leafs to coils. Why is that? I can understand that the coil spring rears are easier to lower and ride better, but can the leaf spring equipt trucks carry a heavier load? Also, my truck has 8 lug hubs. I have no problem with this but I know it reduces the possibility for many aftermarket wheels. Were the C-20's offered with different lug options? If so, is there a load capacity difference between an 8-bolt hub, leaf spring truck and a 6 lug hub, coil spring truck? I've come to understand that there aren't many differences between C-10 and C-20 frames, but I can't really understand the general differences that distinguish the two models then. Were the main differences in the trim packages or type of springs installed? Why are some people attempting to change a C-20 to a C-10? Sorry for all the questions, but I appreciate any answers.
