Transmission Cross-member braces

Hi everyone,
I've got a 1978 4wd burb frame I'm working on. Finished painting the frame this weekend. I pulled off the cross member in order to clean/paint under it. I wanted to verify if the x-member went under or over the frame rail (I would have put it on top of the bottom rail of the frame-GM put it under), but I noticed in the pics that it should have a couple of transmission braces running from the top of the frame rail toward the center of the x-member. The questions is, were these standard/required on all k's and where to gettem'. The x-member had been removed at some point in it's life, since the bolts were to long. Thanks in advance, Tom
