Welding ??

I'm planning on doing some patching of floor panels inside
the cab. I think I read or heard somewhere that if you
performed any welding on a car body that you had to take
care not to damage any electronics because of the voltage
between the ground and the wire welder head.

Anybody know if there is any truth to this? 67-72 trucks
didn't come with much in the way of electronics, except for
distributors and in-dash radios.
