Question 66 Coil springs re.and re.

PO heated all the coil springs on this 66 burb to lower it. I want to change them all so it's driveable. I'm starting on the front, so here are some questions: Do I have to take it down to bare spindle or can I just drop the bottom BJ ? I have the truck blocked up so there is about a foot clearance from tire to ground, is this enough clearance ? I'll need some advice/info when it comes to the back. Any/all info appreciated. Thanks
