Yes you can. They are made from 3/16" steel. I think that the OE 4 wheel drive part was a little thinner than that.

It's intresting that GM recognized that the shock stud was weak and only offered a gusset on the 4 wheel drive applications leaving the 2 wheel drive trucks to break.
