Centerforce Throwout Bearing...?
Looking for confirmation on the correct throwout bearing to use.
I've got a centerforce (12") clutch to be installed in my 72 K10 (SM465/NP205) and I've run into a bit of a snag. I ordered the TOB from Summit according to what they say is correct: part# N1716 The bearing looks exactly like the existing one I pulled from my truck. The problem is that centerforce's "Caution Notice" included with the clutch says the following: WE RECOMMEND THAT OUR THROW OUT BEARING PART NUMBER N1716 BE USED WHICH IS A SELF ALIGNING TYPE BEARING CAUTION: IF YOUR VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A CAST IRON THROWOUT BEARING ARM, CENTERFORCE THROWOUT BEARING N1430 WILL NEED TO BE USED. I do have a cast fork, but like I said, the existing TOB matches exactly. I called centerforce and the tech there said he wasn't too sure, but if it looks the same it will PROBABLY work. I don't know about you, but I'd like to get it right the first time. I also found some other vendors selling the N1430 and their description says "SPECIAL TOB FOR ADVANCE ADAPTERS & USED WITH CAST IRON FORK". So I called Advance and they said the N1716 should be ok. I'm thinking of just using the N1716 that matches but was wondering if anybody has come across the same issue? (searched the forum with no resolve)
