Three Speed Problem ID?
Hey all.
As many of you know, my tranny decided to take a dump on me. It wasn't letting me shift to third, or down shift to 2nd, without lots of grinding, and noise/vibration from the clutch pedal. Well, got the tranny out, pulled the side cover and the front bearing support. (And be warned, this is the first tranny i've ever really dug into). the input shaft is..loose. really loose. like, side to side movement. The inner bearing on that seems to be shot..i think. Also, the 2nd gear synchro hits the idler...i think thats what my dad said? I have an exploded view of it, so i'm gonna see what kinda damage I can do today. but if anyone has any explanation as to HOW to ID if it's the synchro thats bad, or the input shaft bearing, or....? Yeah, that would great! Thanks in advance guys. -Sam.
