Bad Accident at the drags yesterday
Went to the drags yesterday at our local IHRA track (Pittsburgh Raceway Park).... beautiful day.... temp in the low-70's was looking like a "perfect" day for drag racing.... that was until during the time trials a Pro-Mod car lost control at the end of the strip....climbed up on the guard rail, ran on top of it for 30ft or so then crashed in another guard rail near the return road and not only flipped around but also tore off the entire body of the car. It was just a tangled mess. But the good news is the driver got out of what was left of his car under his own power.
Times like this make me realize how IMPORTANT all the SAFETY RULES are in racing. Without the roll cage & safety harness there was no doubt this guy would have never "walked away" You'll NEVER hear me complain about TOO many safety rules.
