What did you replace your stock GM radio with?

Hi guys, I'm still struggling with what to fill the hole in my dash with. I removed the non-working stock GM radio a few weeks ago. Someone previously modified the factory rectangular (center) cutout an 1/8" wider, but the knob holes remain intact. I'm thinking I should buy a nice (two knob) replacement am/fm cassette stereo with a faceplate to hide the old holes. It's really difficult deciding what to buy over the internet though...not knowing if it's going to fit the bill...if you know what I mean....I was hoping to get an adjustable shaft style so I don't have to hack up the dash any more than it already is, but there's hardly any new shaft style stereos out there. What's out there is really low end stuff too. (Dual, Pyramid, Nextar) Never heard of these guys?? Even the older replacement stereos (Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony) are like 5 3/4" knob to knob width and our trucks need 6 1/4" knob to knob widths. And all the new replacement stereos do not have shafts at all...(1 Din, 2 Din)...whatever that is? If you've done something somewhat similar to replace your stock radio, please tell me what you bought and any other details that might help me decide what to do. I've been looking all over the internet for several weeks now and have not been able to make up my mind what to do yet...Thanks, Bob
