Hey Guys..Bought a 71 GMC PROJECT....Wanting to join the club. Pics and Story!
Seen this truck on Craigslist in my hometown of Tulsa, OK. He said he was open to trades and I had a 1994 S-10 4x4 that I used for a few minor parts for my other 94 S10 4x4 that I put a 92 TPI V8 in. Very nice S-10 lifted with 36's, bad to the bone. Neighbor seen it and bought it from me 3 days after I finished it. Anyway, I trade the parts truck straight across for it. The only thing I took off of the parts truck was a seat bracket and switched the bumpers. The guy I got it from is a super cool guy that told me everything about the 71 I wanted to know.
Here are some pictures. Trying to get some ideas for it. I'm not sure how far its been lowered but it has been done right. It has the drop spindles and springs up front and the drop springs in back. Has all new shocks as well. The wheels and tires he had just purchased before he lost interest in it. He said the engine he believed was a 283, it has a 2-barrel on it with headers and my favorite old school valve covers. Not 100% on the engine though, my buddy believes it's a 307. The tranny is definately a TH400, doesn't seem to have anything done to it. Shifts real smooth and goes into gear nice. The body has some dings and dents and I know the cab corners will need to be replaced. If your wondering what the white container is in the back. Its the housing for the fuel cell. The fuel tank rusted out and they pulled it out. The interior, well you can see from the pictures, is going to need some work. the floor pans have already been replaced but there is no dash pad, just metal. It does have some leather bucket seats and a wooden box for a center console, none of which are bolted in....lol. Well guys here is my next project, give me some ideas and let me know that I made a good trade. I've always wanted to build a old lowered truck and here I go. Thanks for reading and I'll keep the pics coming as I update, please feel free to share your ideas. Thanks guys, Nolan M. Last edited by CrashPro993; 06-17-2008 at 10:48 AM.
