Key turning question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Since Ive never owned one of these or seen another up close, when you turn th key to start the engine does it usually spring back so its stright up and down or does it stay turned to the right? Im just making sure so my starter doesnt eat up/get eaten.. I'm not hearing any noises from it so im assuming its normal for it to stay to the right and when you turn it off you just turn to the left so its straight up and down..
