flip kit with lowering block

This may be a stupid question but when I instal my DJM flip kit can I put a 1" universal lowering block in between the axle locator bracket and the leafs (having long enough u bolts of course)? It makes sense in my head but I haven't seen any of you talk about it so I figure there is something that I'm not taking into consideration.
