Drip rail rust

The drip rail on the a pillar of my 66 was bugging me. It was bubbling up some rust. I cut out the spot welds and took it off. I'd like to keep drip rails on the truck. I'm planning a two tone paint job, the drip rail will make for a cleaner transition. Anyone replace these? Hard to find replacements?

I was thinking of cutting off the rusty part, then welding it back on. It would be less work if I could just plug weld good ones back on. What do you think?
