Built a couple of models
I wanted to build a model that looked like my truck. I bought what looked like a '63 resin kit off of eBay, but it turned out to be a resin reproduction of the 1960 promotional with a '63 grill (that had already been used before) and a GMC hood (weird). Anyway, I went to build my truck out of the '60 shortbox kit that you can buy in the hobby stores with my new used '63 grill, and while I was at it I just decided to do up the '60 longbox at the same time.
The '60 (the dust shows in the pictures, but the paint job is suprisingly perfect--especially for me!): It wasn't really designed to have an engine in it, so I was just going to glue the hood shut, but I had the 409 in my parts box, so you know, I used it. The '63. Obviously, this is the version where my truck is not as big 'a piece of crap as it is for real: Had to include my son's car seat. The hood doesn't fit great, and I know how to fix it, but it's one of those deals where I'm scared I'll screw something up, so maybe I'll just leave it alone. The inspiration: There you have it.
