Help Please starter problem...

Well today me and a friend changed the clutch in my 71 6cyl. 3 speed truck....It had a 10 inch clutch and we put a 11 inch clutch in it...We used another flywheel that was out of a 72 with a 6 cyl....They both had the same tooth count....Well my starter is grinding bad and has that whine when starting...It starts and runs fine...Its just real loud and grinds when starting....And you can't shim the 6 cyl three bolt starters....
