4 x 4 to 2 x 4

My wife is considering buying a 92-2002 Suburban but asked me if there is any difference in the 2 wheel versus the 4 wheel drive. I am thinking you can still buy a conversion kit to make it 2 x 4 instead of 4 x 4. Is this years 4 x 4 full time or selectable? I had a 77 Jimmy before that I changed to 2 x 4 instead of full time and it worked pretty good.

You might ask why then consider buying a 4 x 4. They are dirt cheap now the gas has gone up and the wifes 87 is without AC.

One more question what year did they change to the new freon? This is one reason we are not trying to fix the 87's AC to darn expensive.
