Have quick question about hubbys problem

HI all, sinc big man is out trying to figure this out, i get to ask the questions. He took the float bowl off. got the vavle in the right position. Tried to fire the truck. once again he had to put gas in the carb. ran for a few seconds then stoped. could not get it started again without adding for fuel to the carb. So he took the fuel line off. he is getting fuel fine to the carb, BUT not into the carb he thinks. what does he need to check next. He is thinking about a rebuild kit.
