Steering Gear Tools

Hey, i need some help trying to find out a tool to take apart my steering gear. On the input shaft theres a retainer and sorta like a nut holding the retainer, the retainer has 2 holes wich i think there should be a socket or something to loosen this thing up cause i tried pretty much everything:

-tried to hit the nut on the side with a screw driver and hammer
-put the nut on a vise and twisted it
-even tried a huge crescent wrench and a stillson but nothing

If more info is neded just holler, thanks.
