having half a fit with big block headers

Test-fit the headers today on the 454.
Passenger side just touches the frame - no problema.
Driver's side needs another 1/2 inch to clear tower on the bottom of the #1 tube.
Don't really want to get out the big hammer - will the tubular aftermarket towers solve this problem? (current towers are small block with the hole elongated slightly to line up with the mount on the engine)
I know some of you guys have solved this problem - help will be appreciated.
