Was a steering stabilizer...

standard factory issue, was it a factory or dealer option, or has almost everyone added one aftermarket?
If factory, what size/color was it? I'm replacing the dented Rancho on my K5 and would like to duplicate the factory color if there is one. If not, I'll paint it black.
I'm guessing I want one on there. It's already kinda squirelly above 50 with the short wheel base. Although, I just tightened up the steering box and haven't driven it yet to see if it makes a difference. Anyone driven a K5 without a stabilizer - is it even more a handfull at speed?
Sorry for the ramble....
