In Frame Fuel Tank Conversion
Hey All,
Has anyone ever done an in-frame fuel tank conversion on a 73-87 Chevy pickup? I have a 1 ton 82 chevy crewcab with dual tanks. One tank is shelled and the wiring for the changeover switch is all hosed too. I want to take a tank out of a Suburban and mount it in between the frame rails out back. Will this fit? I have a 86 Sub too, but have not gone out and done some measuring yet. Wondering if anyone has done one of these conversions? What about the fuel gauge? Any modifications I would need to do there? What about the filler neck? I'm not worried about having to do modifications to the truck. I have a wire welder and all the tools to do this. I'm just wondering how big of a job it is. I'd rather have one 40 gallon tank instead of two 20 gallon tanks. Thanks Mike
