I was sick for a couple days there. Might have been that Linc/Truck pic...
Anyway, I thought I'd at least post up where I am right now: This shows how much the hinge box had to be cut down in order to get the hinge as close to the door skin as possible. I still need to add a second bolt hole on the upper end of the hinge box:  Added more vertical support:  POR-15   inside the door while I have access:
