RAMJET crate motor EFI fuel pump

A buddy of mine splurged and bought a 350 Ramjet crate motor for his 68 step side. He already has a rear mount aluminum fuel tank and he was going to run an external electric fuel pump. I have heard nothing but bad things about the reliability of the electric pumps when run at the high pressure that EFI requires. The tank he has does not currently have a provision for a drop in fuel pump. Does anyone have any quick and easy suggestions? If not any hard and difficult suggestions?
