Are sway bar brackets a must at stock height?

I got an 87 2wd swb silverado. I just ordered a Belltech front sway bar. The truck did not come from the factory with a sway bar and therefore has no sway bar brackets.

I notice those running sway bars on lowered trucks with the sway bar bolted directly to the frame. My truck is at stock height, when I do lower it, it will just be a mild drop with only spindles up front, so the suspension geometry won't change anyways.

Should I buy the factory brackets or will I be safe bolting the sway bar directly to the frame like you lowered truck folks have done?

I hope to see some handling improvements. I have never experienced what a sway bar is like since i have never owned a truck that had one!
