Engine options and decisions to be made

I could have sworn I had a 350. Everyone who saw it figured the same.

Turns out, my V1125TAI is a 1970 307 small block, 2bbl, 2 bolt main.

Ill be damned. Wonder if this means I picked the wrong plugs, or if the shop tuned it differently. I had a skip white HEI distrib installed and 3 weeks after i blew the engine (ring)

So, the plan was to check the block, and man was I shocked to see its a 307.

Good news is, its an original and numbers matching block. Bad news is, its not a 350, killing my hopes of a 383 without swapping blocks.

So the questions - what can a 307 produce? Is it financially stupid to work a 307, or should I start shopping for 350/400's?
