collapsed radiator hose

Hi guys, great site, and alot of good looking trucks.
I have a question for a friend who has a 72 c-10 pickup. The truck has been completely restored and rebuilt, The motor has around 1,000 miles on it. The question I have, is what would cause the top radiator hose to collapse when he cuts the truck off after driving for a while. I've heard of the bottom hose collapsing while driving, but never heard of the top collapsing after driving.
Thanks, Paul
