WD-40 seems to be everyone's generic spray "Lube".....like it is some miracle stuff that can do it all. The problem with things that "do it all" is that they don't do most of them very well. WD-40 is probable best for spraying inside a wet distributor cap....it is after-all specifically designed for "water displacement" (the WD).
For a penetrating oil or other general lubrication, there are far better choices.

I'm with Shane on this one, White Lithium grease is the thing here. It should also be used on the other moving parts of the body.....door hinges, hood and door latches, tailgate hinges/latches, etc.
