electrical ? dash light ?

I keep blowing the fuse for the dash lights. So today I went out and took the dash apart and started to look fro bare wires and such. It looked like a rats nest under the dash, wires runing everyware. So I cleaned up the nest, straightened the wires out and got everything looking good.

I am running fantom gauges, for the water temp, oil pres, and volts. I wireed everyting up again after cleaning up the excess miles of wire. plug them in and, they worked with the lights on. But no speed-o or fuel lights? I remembered OH YA plug the harness in, when I did that the fuse blew out ??? WHY ? what did i do wrong? OH YA I had the lights off when I pluged in the dash harness, when I turned the lights on is when it died ??

I hate electrical B/S. hopefully someone can help, Thanks Landon
