Whats the correct way to raise a bed floor ??

Hey guys, what are yall opinions on this? I need to raise the bed floor on my '68 short fleet (wood floor) by 3 inches. Could i fabricate (8) 3 inch spacers to weld to the frame at the mounting points and relocate the front panel and inner bedside rails up 3 inches. Of coarse something would be needed to cover the exposed area above the rear bed sill, but thats pretty straightforward. What about the wheeltubs ?
Any input would be helpful. How would you do it ?

I dont mind the work involved, it just want it to look right.
