the engine serial number on chevy engines is on the (i believe) passenger side of the engine directly in front of the head...there should be a portion of the block not covered by the head that will have a number stamped on it..there is also the block casting number on the drivers side rear on the bell housing flange and it will be raised not stamped like the serial number. I wouldn't worry about the oilcooler in the radiator. I once had a suburban with a towing package that came with the same thing.
